I am a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Houston in the USA and Lolaark Vision's co-founder and CEO. I received my PhD in Mathematics in1993 from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of Functional Analysis. My research interests are Computational Harmonic Analysis, Wavelet and Sparse Representation Analysis, Frame Theory, Convolutional Neural Networks, Machine Learning based-Image Analysis with special emphasis on 2D, 3D and video object detection, neuroscience imaging and cancer detection, and Video visibility clarification and integration with artificial intelligence systems for marine, surveillance, and aviation applications. I was co-chair of the conference series "Wavelets and Sparsity", which is part of the SPIE annual meeting "Optics and Photonics" until 2019. My work has mainly been published in pure and applied mathematics and engineering journals. I have authored and co-authored over 57 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and scientific monographs, and 18 other publications as well as two U.S. patents. I have taught numerous courses ranging from calculus to probability and statistics, developed upper-level mathematics courses and new graduate-level courses.
